Parade Theme: Pride NOT Prejudice
San Francisco Pride will be held on Sunday, June 24th and Spectrum LGBT Center is joining with several other Marin County organizations to form the FACES OF MARIN marching contingent. We hope you’ll join us this year as part of Spectrum’s 25th Anniversary of promoting acceptance, community, and equality for LGBT people.
Spectrum Board Member Dolores Caruthers, and her partner Laura Espinosa, will be honored as Community Grand Marshals in this year’s parade. Our contingent will be following them as we stroll down Market Street. If you’ve never been in the parade, it’s a wonderful experience!
We invite individuals and organizations to join our contingent. You may carry an organizational banner, or bring posters. You may also distribute information along the parade route (there are certain restrictions on the type of items that may be distributed — you can find out more about that on the website at www.sfpride.org).
The SF Pride Committee requires each contingent to provide trained SAFETY MONITORS who volunteer to attend trainings and march with the contingent. We estimate that we’ll have fifty people in our contingent, which means we need four volunteers to attend safety monitor trainings prior to the parade (dates and locations TBA).
It has been a number of years since Marin has entered a unique contingent in the parade, and this is the year to do it!
